I’m proud to tell you about our newest resource.
One of the major benefits of LTEN membership is access. Through our in-person events, mixers, webinars, workshops and publications, LTEN prides itself in connecting members with the resources, thought leaders and industry experts you need to keep your training on track. That’s not even counting the networking opportunities where you can connect with – and learn from – each other. (More on that later in this column.)
With that in mind, I’m proud to tell you about our newest resource.
Starting with this issue of LTEN Focus on Training, industry analyst and thought leader Josh Bersin will author a quarterly column in our membership magazine. We’re calling the column Insights, because that’s exactly what Josh will offer you – insights based on research, his experience in the training industry and his global business connections. We think you’ll enjoy connecting regularly with this expert on training and performance.
Josh is an industry analyst, author and researcher who covers human resources, training, talent management, recruiting, leadership and technology. He founded his own consultancy, Bersin & Associates, which later became part of the Deloitte organization and was rebranded Bersin by Deloitte. Josh continues his work in the industry, and serves as a keynote speaker, educator and personal coach to HR and business leaders worldwide. Simply stated, his professional goal is to help make work life better for individuals, organizations, communities and stakeholders.
Some LTEN members might be familiar with Josh from last year’s invitation-only Learning Executive Forum, which Josh keynoted. At that event, he spoke about learning in the flow of work, which is also the topic of his first column in this issue. Be sure to check out his new column on page 17.
Speaking of resources, it’s almost time for the 48th LTEN Annual Conference to kick off. We’re hoping for another record-breaking year, and I look forward to seeing you there.
Networking is one of the main advantages to LTEN membership, and the annual conference is our flagship event for networking. With more than 1,000 LTEN embers expected, you’ll have the chance to find knowledgeable peers no matter hat your current driving interest.
I’d like to offer a challenge to everyone attending the conference: Plan to meet 10 new life sciences training industry peers this year. I’m not talking about checking off a box after a simple hello at a networking reception … really try to make a connection. You’ll find possibilities everywhere – at workshops, during breaks, at receptions and certainly in the Learning Village exhibit hall.
When you find someone whose interests or experiences dovetail with yours, dive deep into the conversation. Talk with her or him about what you’re working on, or what you’d like to be working on. Share lessons learned with one another, discuss best practices, laugh about missteps (they happen to us all) and trade contact information. You might find those few minutes to be the most valuable use of your time at an event filled with value.
