These LTEN leaders built a foundation for continued success

Hello LTEN community, and happy April! I hope that you have enjoyed the start to this new quarter and were able to participate in our LTEN Excellence Awards Announcement Week.  We shared the exciting details for our 10th Annual LTEN Excellence Awards finalists, including those from our five new awards categories. We also announced our 2024 Members of the Year, highlighting their significant contributions to our network and the life sciences training industry.

This week’s reveals also included the three remarkable individuals we will be inducting into the LTEN Hall of Fame at the 2024 LTEN Annual Conference in Kissimmee, Fla. Each of these members has demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributions to the LTEN community and the broader field of learning and development within life sciences.

This year’s Hall of Fame honorees are:

John Constantine is senior vice president of U.S. consulting at Orchestrall and an LTEN member for more than 25 years. John has been a beacon of leadership and innovation within LTEN. His tenure as president of the board and his efforts to expand LTEN’s reach into learning & development groups in member companies highlight his dedication to enhancing the LTEN community’s impact on professional development and networking.

Asked what advice he would give to other LTEN members, John recommended getting involved, leading workshops and supporting committee efforts as key ways to get the most from this incredible network.

“Quite honestly, I only originally joined because my boss put it on my annual development plan. I’m so glad he did. I didn’t realize at the time how valuable LTEN membership would be,” John said. “LTEN has always been such a great fit for me personally and my network has proved mission-critical. If I can’t help someone directly as a consultant, I always know someone in the LTEN ecosphere that will fit the bill.”

Mark Osborne began his engagement with LTEN in 1996, and it’s included service as LTEN Board president and nearly 25 years on the LTEN Board of Directors. In short, Mark has left an indelible mark on our community.

Recently retired from Novartis, Mark supported significant growth and change within LTEN over his decades of service, and fostered the Leadership Executive Forum, highlighting his commitment to enhancing the LTEN experience for all members. Mark’s memorable encounter with keynote speaker Colin Powell at the2000 Annual Conference is a testament to the inspiring and transformative experiences LTEN provides “LTEN is such a unique opportunity to share training best practices, build training and leadership skills and establish a network of peers for ongoing support of common challenges,” Mark said. “I led pharma training organizations for more than 27 years and am proud to say that, regardless of the company I was with, my training teams were always full members of LTEN. Being an active member of LTEN signals that you have made the commitment to be a training professional.”

Carol Wells, a dedicated LTEN member since 1984 who recently retired from Genentech after serving there from 2004 to 2023. A LTEN Board of Directors president, Carol has been an integral part of the LTEN fabric for nearly four decades. Her passion for capability development and her commitment to sharing best practices have made a lasting impact. Carol served on the LTEN Board of Directors for nearly 20 years, including president. She’s led workshops at annual conferences and hosted numerous LTEN mixers at Genentech. In short, her efforts have been instrumental in shaping the future of LTEN.

“In my role it was important for me to be connected to like professionals in the industry who could offer advice, support and friendship,” Carol said. “It was so helpful and encouraging to be able to share and bring back nonproprietary ideas to my team in San Francisco so that we can all be even more effective in our support of helping patients.”

Conclusion

As we prepare to celebrate these remarkable individuals at the 2024 LTEN Annual Conference, I hope you take inspiration from their dedication and achievements. Their contributions remind us of the power of community, collaboration and continuous learning in driving the advancement of our field.

We look forward to honoring Carol Wells, Mark Osborne and John Constantine for their outstanding contributions to LTEN and the life sciences training community.
